Bakubung Bush Lodge is situated in the Malaria Free Pilanesberg National Park, just two hours drive from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg city and 5 minutes from Sun City Resort The Pilanesberg is a very popular wildlife destination with the free roaming Big Five and little five, as well as other mammals, bird species and a rich diversity of Indigenous flora and fauna.
Bakubung, or “Place of the Hippo”, provides guests with the peace and tranquility of a true bush experience in luxury and great service. There are 76 Standard rooms built in a horse shoe shape which have a spectacular view onto the hippo pool and main entertainment areas. You have the option between a room with two double beds or a king size bed, each with an ensuite bathroom.The hotel rooms consist of tea/coffee station, mini-bar, Colour-Tv with Dstv, Air-conditioning, hairdryer, electronic safe, direct dial telephone and internet connectivity (Wi-Fi or cable).Bakubung’s accommodation is four star graded, so you have peace of mind that you get best value for your stay at a very competitive rate.
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with the added options of a pool terrace menu and room service. On Wednesday and Saturday nights we also offer the “Bush Braai” option when you can choose to have dinner at our Boma just 2km into the bush, or at the restaurant.
Bakubung Lodge also has excellent conference facilities with one big venue and several smaller venues where we have offer state of the art equipment for Conferences, presentations or private functions.

The Junior Rangers Program is available for children aged 6 to 12 years. Under the supervision of trained staff, the parents can be sure that their children will be well looked after while they participate in a host of educational activities like game drives, bush walks, birding, picnicking and in-house entertainment. Activities are geared around natural resource protection, environmental education and responsible recreation offering a special opportunity to explore the Pilanesberg National Park. Once activities have been completed the children are presented with activity badges and stickers and when they have completed all 8 activities they will participate in a Junior Ranger pledge ceremony whereby they are given a certificate portraying that they are now part of the resource protection, environmental education and responsible recreation initiative.
